WHAT DO I SAY
“What do I say” examines the emotional impact of a parent’s cancer diagnosis on teenagers, focusing on responses shaped by shock, fear, and emotional overload. Grounded in personal experience, the project addresses the tendency of adolescents to withdraw in such situations. The family journal proposes an alternative to verbal communication, offering a shared space for written expression to support emotional connection. It highlights nonverbal communication, intergenerational understanding, and the role of shared storytelling in coping with illness.
